In the Spring of 2007, the OSHEAN staff began to explore video capture solutions to replace the aging Starbak server, which was no longer meeting member requirements for their increasing video based needs. First introduced during the June 2007 WAVE, and followed by meetings and focus groups, in addition to a well received member survey, the Accordent Media Management System was deemed the best solution for its advanced live capture and on demand content storage, customizable options, and versatile functionality.

In December, OSHEAN purchased the Accordent Enterprise System with the add-on modules outlined below, as well as four capture stations which will be made available for loan to subscribing members.  We intend to roll out the first phase of the product in March and allow members to pilot the system through the spring.  As the live stream and archive of commencement ceremonies is of high priority amongst members of higher education, it is our intent to have the system fully functional by early May 2008.

In an effort to streamline implementation, OSHEAN will be offering several how-to training courses, held by Accordent experts, on the processes of the system.  Members will learn how to execute live capture and on demand archiving, fully utilize each module application, customize their skin with logo, color scheme, etc., and then edit stored content.  Dates for these sessions have not yet been confirmed, but will most likely begin in March.
