Recently some of our members have brought to our attention their need for new or upgraded email archiving systems and asked us to begin to look at ways in which OSHEAN might be able to help with this important and growing need.

To that end, we held a meeting this week where a representative from our member, Care New England, presented his research findings on the subject.  We thank Care New England for their willingness to share this valuable information.

There are three types of email archiving solutions currently available: software, appliance and ASP model.  Each option has its pros and cons which we learned more about during the meeting.  Care New England has not only performed the research but has also looked at what vendors provide these solutions and what each particular vendor solution provides and at what cost.

The group decided to explore the option from one of the vendors and will be bringing them in for a meeting in the near future.
