|OSHEAN Member Forum|
OSHEAN would like to thank you all again for attending the 2011 OSHEAN Member Forum. This year's event was a great day of gather, sharing, and planting ideas for future endeavors.
During the morning session, attendees viewed three riveting presentations, including a discussion on Telepresence via a CISCO telepresence unit, virtual desktop infrastructure and WiMAX technology. Members also participated in breakout sessions involving all current OSHEAN working groups, such as Health Care Group, Shore Patrol, Telecom Managers, as well as other topics on Eduroam and Virtual Computing.
At the conclusion of the event, OSHEAN awarded four members/organizations with its Horizon and Current Awards. The Current Award recognizes member organizations in their excellence for innovative technology. The Current Award recipients were presented to the Community College of Rhode Island and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The Horizon Award is given in recognition for years of outstanding service and commitment to OSHEAN. The Horizon Award recipients were presented to Richard Prull, Assistant Vice President for Information Services - Rhode Island College and John Landers, State of Rhode Island Chief Information Officer - RI Division of Information Technology.
The day was yet another successful event for OSHEAN members. We ask that you all remember the challenge we spoke of, "We (OSHEAN) have two years to build the infrastructure that will serve our citizens for decades to come. You have two years to determine how to best utilize it to the benefit of the people you serve."
