|Spotlight on Mark|
Meet Mark Montalto, OSHEAN's Director of Business Development!
What do you do at OSHEAN?
I work in Business Development. My focus is to help extend the connection between both OSHEAN and its members, as well as those relationships we have with our partners and vendors.
How do OSHEAN members benefit from what you do?
As OSHEAN builds its service catalog by layering resources on top of Beacon 2.0, we're hoping our outreach to members will assist them in learning and implementing some of our offerings. IT groups are extremely taxed, with limited resources and time—OSHEAN hopes to bridge some of this gap in areas where there is common benefit to the work we do. Many institutions have little, or in some cases, no capacity to sort through much of the new challenges they face —we aim to help them.
What are some new things that members can look forward to over the next quarter?
Well, the team here at OSHEAN has been focused on building and stabilizing our members' network. And the new leadership team has been busy strategizing on the "new" OSHEAN and all of its promise. However, we feel we have lost a bit of the "community" touch that was the hallmark of OSHEAN, and we are hoping to get some of that back. I think we can look forward to an agenda that will bring meaningful interaction with, and among, our members.
What do you do in your spare time?
As I have always stated to those that know me who are from RI, I am a bit of an interloper here. I grew up and currently reside in MA. I came to know RI, OSHEAN and the education markets here by way of covering the region for Cisco. Notwithstanding my not hailing from RI, I grew to very much enjoy, RI—it is a unique area. I have always valued the sense of community I feel when here. The people are open and friendly—they all seem to be able to work positively with one another, and that truly grants an entity like OSHEAN the opportunity to deliver on the promise of a common benefit. I am appreciative of my ability to be part of this opportunity. In my spare time, however, I remain engaged in raising several children, and enjoy the ocean and staying healthy.
